CASTELNAU

Montreal

At the heart of the Castelnau project is the successful conversion of a magnificent heritage building of neo-classical inspiration facing Saint-Laurent Boulevard.

Comprised of four phases and ideally located a stone's throw from the Jean-Talon market, Little Italy and the Castelnau metro station, nearly 400 units will have been built in total. The project involved the preservation and integration of a heritage building as well as the modification of the zoning and urban plan regulations. The approval process included hearings before the Montreal Heritage Council, the Jacques Viger Commission and public hearings conducted by the Office de la Consultation Publique de Montréal. The heritage buildings were successfully preserved and the project was well received and accepted by the authorities and the community, due to the fact that before the design began, the community and relevant stakeholders were met and listened to.

An urban oasis, Castelnau offers residents beautifully landscaped outdoor spaces, pedestrian walkways, a beautiful fountain and large parks nearby.

The interiors are just as spacious and bright: large windows, terraces and balconies, yoga and Pilates areas, and a workout room bathed in natural light.

This project was realized in partnership with DevMcGill.
